ANGUS STEWART (Business Development Executive, Telstra Broadcast Services): Telstra's Internet Delivery Network is a software-defined, cloud-based platform that seamlessly enables the transport of high-quality video content as well as live stream broadcasts.
KAREN CLARK (Head of Australia and New Zealand, Telstra Broadcast Services): The Internet Delivery Network, or IDN, is a rapidly growing method of transport and is built to maximise content value through rapid deployment across the public Internet.
MICHAEL DAY (Product Management Lead, Telstra Broadcast Services): Telstra's IDN is currently being used by some of the world's leading media brands for contribution, distribution, over-the-top delivery, backup, disaster recovery, and news and sports broadcasts.
ANGUS STEWART: Benefit of the Internet Delivery Network to a customer is fast on-ramp, it is flexibility, and it is dynamic access to Telstra's existing media core.
CARL PETCH (CTO and Head of Media Network Solutions, Telstra Broadcast Services): The value of the assurance that we do with IDN is really around us being there 24/7 across our facilities around the world and, for us, we treat it no differently to our other fibre networks but, for us, we treat it no differently to our other fibre networks but, it is that value that you can get to the end of someone at the end of a phone which differentiates us in the market.
Utilising the power of Telstra's on-net platforms as well as their off-net platforms, the IDN is a fully featured and flexible system that can manage large-scale broadcasts remotely from any Internet connection anywhere in the world.
KAREN CLARK: Telstra's IDN was designed to improve our customer revenue models by providing a more cost-effective alternative to traditional carriage services, all the while balancing a premium service with economic delivery.
MICHAEL DAY: IDN is exciting for us because it allows us to add more services, more capabilities to what we have and also obviously it's the way of the future. We'll be using Internet delivery to deliver more and more important assets over the Internet in the future.
The IDN enables us to help our customers maximise content value and deliver that content reliably and efficiently. And provides multiprotocol support for broadcasters' most commonly available protocols, allowing seamless delivery with existing client environments.
ANGUS STEWART: It is the perfect solution to the problems of capacity constraint, complexity, lack of flexibility, and costs which is faced by broadcasters all over trying to reach the world.
CARL PETCH: It's a way to do more. The network is designed to resolve the disruptions of latency, jitter and dropped packets that occur across any congested network and even features military grade encryption.
ANGUS STEWART: The exciting part about the IDN is that it builds on already considerable experience of broadcasting professional media over the Internet.
KAREN CLARK: A number of our customers have been delivering content via the IDN across Europe since 2016 and into China since 2012.
CARL PETCH: We've managed to craft the product that it allows us to have people bring their own equipment, bundle that in with our fibre products and interchange at our facilities. So, I think it's more about scope. That's really... the future for us is the scope of the product and where it can go in the future, with the Internet growing on a daily basis.
ANGUS STEWART: Reduce your risk with Telstra's proof-of-performance model that helps you drive long-term quality support in a highly automated environment, and allow the IDN to deliver your live, on demand and catch-up viewing anywhere and on any registered device.
